Bird's Nest

This is another all time favorite in our house!  It's so simple, but so much fun!

I take every pillow I can find and make a giant circle with some of them (I can't think of the exact number off the top of my head).  Then I add another layer and if I have enough pillows a third layer on top.

Next, I get a few big comforters or blankets and put them on top of the ring of pillows, tucking them under the outside of the ring of pillows. I have a giant brown comforter that I save for the last layer, it will cover the entire thing and give it a good "nest" look. :)

Once you've covered the entire nest with comforters, it's time to play!  ABC love to be baby birds in their giant nest!  It's even more fun to get gummy worms to surprise your little birds with.

I came up with this a couple of years ago, and it's still one of their favorite games.  After they fly around and take a few (pretend) naps, it's a very cozy place to read a few books, play a board game or even snuggle up with their special blankies to watch a movie.

There are so many different things you can do!  I love coming up with something like this and seeing where their imaginations take you.  Sometimes they (and us) just need a starting place!  Have fun!

Tweet-Tweet! :)

P.S. Please feel free to comment and share your ideas/thoughts!  I'd love to hear what you think! Thanks!!!

Rainy Day Camp Out :)

A few weeks ago, we were on our way to a play date in the rain. We experienced car trouble and had to come home without making it to our destination. My Boys were heartbroken. We live in the South, but it was a bizarrely cool day. As I was wracking my brain to figure out something fun we could do, it hit me! A Camp-In!

I told ABC(my boys) what I was thinking and they were instantly sold! We have a couple of play tents, so I got them out and attached them together with the ties for the door flaps. They got their blankets and pillows while I started a fire in the fireplace. Once we had a good fire going, we went fishing. They took turns holding butterfly nets off of the edge of the couch while I hid below and put toy fish in their nets. :)

After we had a great catch, we went on a nature walk. I had put toy animals and stuffed animals all over the house and we went exploring and "discovered" them. Our favorite find was a purple dolphin in a pond(a tiny blue blanket on the floor in their room). It's also fun if they have a kid camera to take it on your "hike" and let them take pictures of the animals they encounter.

We made it back to camp and rested in our tent for a bit, just talking and telling stories. Once we were feeling quite refreshed, we roasted hot dogs over our fire and of course followed it s'mores!

It ended up being a FANTASTIC day that none of us will forget! This is pretty funny, but as I'm typing this they are "fishing" off of the couch...and I didn't say a word about what I was typing!

Welcome to my blog...and now, go PLAY! :)
