Rainy Day Camp Out :)

A few weeks ago, we were on our way to a play date in the rain. We experienced car trouble and had to come home without making it to our destination. My Boys were heartbroken. We live in the South, but it was a bizarrely cool day. As I was wracking my brain to figure out something fun we could do, it hit me! A Camp-In!

I told ABC(my boys) what I was thinking and they were instantly sold! We have a couple of play tents, so I got them out and attached them together with the ties for the door flaps. They got their blankets and pillows while I started a fire in the fireplace. Once we had a good fire going, we went fishing. They took turns holding butterfly nets off of the edge of the couch while I hid below and put toy fish in their nets. :)

After we had a great catch, we went on a nature walk. I had put toy animals and stuffed animals all over the house and we went exploring and "discovered" them. Our favorite find was a purple dolphin in a pond(a tiny blue blanket on the floor in their room). It's also fun if they have a kid camera to take it on your "hike" and let them take pictures of the animals they encounter.

We made it back to camp and rested in our tent for a bit, just talking and telling stories. Once we were feeling quite refreshed, we roasted hot dogs over our fire and of course followed it s'mores!

It ended up being a FANTASTIC day that none of us will forget! This is pretty funny, but as I'm typing this they are "fishing" off of the couch...and I didn't say a word about what I was typing!

Welcome to my blog...and now, go PLAY! :)
